The stage is set for the Aam Aadmi Party's maha rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. According to the organisers, 90 per cent of the work is already done. The rally will take place on Sunday, June 11. The show of strength is against the Centre's ordinance on control of services in the national capital.
The Centre issued an ordinance on May 19, establishing the National Capital Civil Service Authority and reclaiming executive control over service-related matters.
An AAP leader, in a conversation with India Today, revealed that preparations have been made for around 1 lakh people.
"Eight years ago, the people of Delhi gave their mandate to AAP, and Arvind Kejriwal became the chief minister. However, after three months, the power of the Delhi government was curtailed by the Centre. Now, after eight years, we have regained some powers through the court, but the Modi government has brought an ordinance to further reduce the Delhi government's power through the back door," said Adil Khan, a national executive member of AAP.
